Maximus Villar wins 2020 Miami Touchdown Club Scholar Athlete Award

Miami, Florida – The Miami Touchdown Club will proudly present exceptional student-athlete Maximus Villar of Christopher Columbus High School with its 2020 Miami Touchdown Club Scholar Athlete Award:

The award will be presented to Maximus by the Miami Touchdown Club Board of Directors and with the presence of Christopher Columbus administration and athletic staff and several special guests from the football world.
Maximus, served as one of the Columbus football team captains and was a starter on the defensive line. His senior leadership helped guide the team throughout the season. The Explorers won the 2019 Florida Football State Championship in Class 8A. Villar continued his leadership role at Columbus on the Track and Field team as a captain.
In winning the 2020 Miami Touchdown Club Scholar Athlete Award, Maximus is a dedicated student, demonstrating this by earning honor roll in all four academic years. He was a member of the Columbus “Be The Light” club. They help children and adults in times of trouble. He mentored children in summertime camps. Maximus has committed to attend Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. this fall.
The Miami Touchdown Club will be presenting the award to Maximus at a future Miami Touchdown Club event.
The Miami Touchdown Club was founded in 1959 by a group of local community leaders with a strong interest in supporting football in Miami-Dade County, Fla. Long-established relationships exist with local public and private high schools, the University of Miami, Florida International University, and the NFL's Miami Dolphins. Club events include dinner meetings featuring well-known speakers, members-only invitations to closed college football practices, UM and FIU incoming freshman dinners, Miami Dolphin outings, and other football and sports related activities.
The Miami Touchdown Club is a local chapter of the National Football Foundation (NFF).
The NFF National High School Scholar-Athlete award is among the most prestigious high school awards in the country. Notable past recipients include Todd Helton (1992), Drew Henson (1998), Bobby Hoying (1991), Andrew Luck (2008), Chris Prosinski (2006), Andrew Rodriguez (2008), and Jon Stinchcomb (1998). The winner is honored at the NFF Annual Awards Luncheon at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.
